Complaint Description and Writeup
Complainant states the following:
"Well I thought I could get some info from TWRA on this but I can't seem to find a way to contact them. I took the kayak up to do a little fishing on Jennings Creek off the put in place on Hwy 85. Apparently there is some sort of waterfowl refuge there now. Anyway, the water in the creek was yellowish green. When I got on the water I could see streaks of the yellowish green stuff blending in. I suppose it was pollen from algae blooms. Does anyone have any info on this? This usually a sign of heavy pollution from sewage, fertilizer runoff and the like. A strange smell was present also."
The put in I'm referring to is off Old Highway 85 a little south of the junction with Jennings Creek Road. There is a long neglected parking area with some concrete then a short dirt road that ends at a muddy shallow on the creek. I probably went about ¼ mile upstream before the rain came and I had to paddle back and pull out. The water was green all of the way up and beyond the ¼ mile from what I could see. It looked the same downstream as far as I could see. The map coordinates are 36°25'11.6"N+85°40'21.3"W. Thanks for responding so quickly!"
