Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
11/5/14 complainant stated that water being pumped from cofferdam dewatering operation was killing "oyster mussels". Conducted site inspection on 11/6/14 and found no evidence of dirty water being pumped from cofferdam and no evidence of any dead mussels. Water was very clear that was being pumped from cofferdam. Made a followup inspection on 11/12/14 and discharge from cofferdam dewatering operation was turbid and called Jerry Fortner of C&C Millwright (contractor for the project) and explained that turbid water has to be filtered through a sediment filter bag or approved equivalent before being discharged to river. Turbid water is being generated in cofferdam area due to hammer drilling in bedrock.
