Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Mr. Redman and Redman farms spread pig feces from his commercial pig farm located at 286 Limekiln rd., Erin, TN 37061 onto fields located along Bateman Branch Rd., Erin, TN 37061. In the process of spreading the manure, Mr. Redman's pig feces was spilled all over Bateman Branch Rd. causing no other option for vehicles but to drive through the large pools of feces. Due to me having no choice but to drive through the feces, my vehicle was covered in pig feces along with the vehicles of many other who traveled down Bateman branch Rd. I have been through 3 car washes and spent $50 on said car washes, and the smell of pig feces is still so strong on my vehicle that it has made me sick to the point of vomiting as it can be smelled by standing quite some distance away from my car. Mr. Redman made no effort to clean up the feces and simply left it all over our road ways. && Herbicide and/or Manure application immediately adjacent to stream && Installation of a road crossing without authorization. *** BMY Update: T.C.A. §69-3-120(g) states that “Nothing whatsoever in this part shall be so construed as applying to any agricultural or forestry activity or the activities necessary to the conduct and operations thereof or to any lands devoted to the production of any agricultural or forestry products, unless there is a point source discharge from a discernable, confined, and discrete water conveyance”. Recent precipitation may have reduced visibility of or removed altogether any remaining evidence of violations relating to manure application; no problems were found during investigation. Installation of a road crossing necessary to agricultural operations do not typically require the application of a permit. *** BMY Update 2: Mr. Redman indicated that there would be no further manure application for at least two years. *** BMY Update 3: Requested photos complainant mentioned but complainant said the photos would probably not be useful.
