Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
On March 27, 2007, a local radio station owner, Mr. John Rhea, requested assistance with an environmental issue from U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen's office. Rep. Cohen's office contacted Stephen Johnson, EPA Administrator. From there it was referred to Donna Webster with EPA, who contacted the Division of Remediation manager in Memphis, Jordon English. He, in turn, forwarded the call to Terry Templeton, manager of the Division of Water Pollution Control.
The broadcast tower for WLOK is located in an industrial area. There are two neighboring facilities, Lehman Roberts and Conagra Grocery Products, which appear to be discharging liquid onto the broadcast tower property. Mr. Rhea feels that the liquids may be corrosive in nature, due to the condition of the discharge areas and nearby tree roots. He is concerned that the material could corrode the copper ground wires of the broadcast tower.
See attached report.
4/3/07: TRT notified Ms. Webster via email.
