Statewide Active Septic System Installers and Pumpers
Persons who will be constructing, installing, altering, extending, or repairing a subsurface sewage disposal system (Installers) are required to have a valid permit. See Rule 0400-48-01-.19
Installer permits are valid statewide, not just for the county(s) listed. However, contract counties (Blount, Davidson, Hamilton, Jefferson, Knox, Madison, Sevier, Shelby & Williamson) have their own septic system assistance services and may require an additional permit.
Persons who will be removing (pumping) domestic septage from septic tanks, holding tanks, portable toilets, or other similar sewage treatment or disposal facilities (Pumpers) are required to have a valid permit. See Rule 0400-48-01-.20
The Division of Water Resources DataViewer (link below) will allow you to search for licensed installers and/or pumpers in Tennessee. The search can be narrowed by county and the installer search may also be narrowed by the permit type they hold. All installers must carry a valid Conventional Permit and some may also hold additional alternative permits as well.
