| A storm/tornado, which struck the Chesterfield community in April 2011, did significant damage to 412 Meat Processing's building. The roof over the animal holding pins was blow off, exposing this area to storm water. Normally wash-down wastewater from this area is directed into an underground holding tank and is subsequently hauled to the Lexington WWTP for disposal. The additional storm water appears to have caused the collection trenches in the holding area to overflow. However, this added contamination of surface storm water does not appear to have significantly affected the surface ditch behind the building. The access opening the underground holding tank was also damaged. If the additional storm water from the animal holding area and/or surface runoff into the tank have caused the tank to overflow, it does not appear to have significantly contaminated storm water runoff from the site. |
