| Brian Edwards and I toured the STP and discussed the effect of EWS's leachate on the lagoon. Bruceton was able to take it for about a month around June, 2013 before EWS observed the ammonia content in it exceeding what was safe to put in the lagoon. EWS voluntarily stopped taking it to Bruceton and began taking it to a facility in Nashville. Waste Services of Decatur had also begun discharging landfill leachate in Bruceton in December 2013. Bruceton was able to take the leachate only because the landfill pretreated it by dosing it with BC Revive. After a few months Bruceton noticed changes in the lagoon's dissolved oxygen content. Bruceton notified Waste Services on March 7, 2014 that no more leachate could be taken to the lagoon. It's believed that, for whatever reason, Waste Services stopped dosing the leachate. |
