However, there are no records on file at the MEFO or at the NCO that this site should have been an inactive site. A site investigation will be conducted to ascertain site status.8/30/07: At the time of the site investigation conducted on 8/30/07, cars were being crushed and being hauled off-site. No leaking cars were observed. It appeared that the site was being cleaned up. Mr. Simpson was not available during the inspection. 9/5/07: I contacted Ms. Mary Simpson to determine the status of site operations. She stated that A & B Recycling went out of business about 2 years ago and clean-up on site is ongoing. She stated that she would have Mr. Allen Simpson contact me with further details with regard to the site. I will require Mr. Simpson to submit in writing that the facility went out of business and what is currently being done on-site.9/6/07: Mr. Simpson faxed a letter indicating that the site is out of business and that clean-up on-site is onging. The letter is on file at the MEFO.
