Around 7 pm they observed extremely muddy water being discharged from the outfall of the Clarksville Water Treatment basins into the river. She took photos, and climbed onto the shore and collected sample. The solids in the discharge appeared to be anaerobic sediment from the bottom of the ponds - black & eith a sulphurous odor. At some point that evening, she confronted the WTP operator, who reportedly replied they were "just puttin the mud back in the river." Ms. Slako had her sample analyzed at another WTP's lab, which measured the TSS of 2970.5 mg/L. Among her many concerns are: Is the WTP reporting these exceedences? Do they keep records of when and how the basins are cleaned? Are the basins sized adequately?9/20 - At WTP - for August discharge every day; sample collected 30 suspended solids; set. solids both reported BDC (1.01). For Sept. discharged from facility every day l-1 thru l-7; no discharge from the EQ basin l-2 thru l-7. Outfall no collection of solids, also no collection of solids at washoout for, used for solids removal from tank (sludge holding) to truck for disposal.9/22 - Kenny Vaughan, WTP Superintendent called. No operator remembered talking with someone about the discharge to the river. Status: Resolved
