9/27/23: Received a call from Tom Brown with the Cookeville Fire Department. He said that their department has been receiving complaints about a strong gas odor in the area near 510 Jim Garrett Road, Monterey. The latest complainant is a Ms. Emily Wilson. She says that people are getting sick from the smell. The fireman said that the smell seems to be strongest in the morning and evening. He also confirmed that one of his guys was out there last night and did smell the odor.
9/28/23: Christina visited the well today. She said that it 100% has H2S and is actively venting. She spoke with the lady that lives on the property
9/28/23: Roxanne & George spoke with a plugging vendor to assess how quickly he might be able to plug the well since it is on the forfeiture list.
10/5/23: Christina accompanied the plugged vendor to the site today. He believes he will be able to plug the well next week and said he would call Roxanne tomorrow to discuss proposed plugging procedures.
10/13/2023: Purchase Order approved for well to be plugged on state contract.
10/16/2023: Plugging vendor uncovered well and is flaring gas; smell has dissipated; well will be plugged once gas pressure is depleted appropriately; landowners and neighbors happy with program progress; complaint is closed.
