Notes
Logan Kennedy and Chris Pracheil inspected the site on 7/16/19 in response to the complaint. At the time of the inspection, the pond and discharge appeared to have cleared up. No grey color was visible in the water. The site was discharging. Representatives from the site took samples of the discharge to be submitted for permit requirements. The discharge was in compliance with all field tests and parameters checked: pH, iron, and manganese.
Site representatives claimed that the illicit discharge had been the result of their chemical treatment mechanism failing. The gravity-fed flocculant dispenser had gotten clogged and was failed to provide the correct amount of treatment. The dispenser has been fixed and a pump has been ordered for the dispenser to prevent clogging in the future.
The receiving stream, Straight Creek, was also inspected for any signs of deposition of solids or other adverse effects due to the illicit discharge. No deposition was found, and no differences were noted between the upstream and downstream conditions.
