Notes
This site was inspected as part of a pre-mine inspection for NPDES coverage.
The site currently has TMSP sector J coverage. The site has been clear cut.
There are two sinkholes with silt fences around them.
The site plans show rock check dams and waddles, these were not in place during the inspection and should be installed ASAP as work continues on the site.
Water is planned to be directed towards the "sediment basin". This basin appears to be a sinkhole. If it does not retain water, then the site may need to show that this is not a sinkhole, move stormwater monitoring point, etc. There is no specific retention time related to a TMSP, but there is with NPDES. This is something to keep an eye on and monitor.
The site needs to work on stabilizing areas (seed/straw, rock, etc.) that are not planned to be mined and the edges. The clear-cutting has made the site very muddy and sediment/water can move and does move throughout the site, not all in the planned diversion ditches or rock check dams. Water needs to be monitored and maintained so that it does not leave the site unmonitored. The silt fences are temporary BMPs and may need more permanent BMPs installed.
This site is in compliance at the time of inspection.
