Notes
Inspection was conducted as a routine inspection. Facility contacted me on on 4-20-22 to notify me of a sediment release that occurred on-site. Sediment was lost into a wetland area which was located within the permit boundary. Facility determined area of sediment loss to be 0.21 acres. Facility submitted a CAP April 28, 2022 regarding their plan to remove sediment from the wetland. BMPs need to be improved along haulroad at southwest entrance. Stormwater is flowing along the haulroad along the southern side of Pond 2 and leaving at the southwest entrance of the site and entering a roadside ditch which flows to a UNT to Spring Creek. Discussed possibly diverting some of the stormwater flow into the southeast corner of Pond 2 and installing some rip rap check dams along the segment of the haul road where the stormwater could not be diverted into Pond 2. Additional BMPs are needed on the outslopes near the culvert crossing the UNT to Spring Creek. It also appeared that a former mine void may have overflowed through a rip rap structure at some point. There was no discharge observed at this location at time of inspection. Will discuss with permit section. There was a discharge at Outfall 21.01 at time of inspection. The discharge appeared clear and was not causing a color contrast to the receiving stream. For additional information regarding this inspection please refer to the supplemental inspection info document on the dataviewer.
