Notes
The project looked good. The stream was slightly turbid with no apparent color contrast between the WP Little Pigeon upstream and downstream of the dam removal activities. A large depositional area was present behind the remaining portion of dam and the rubble/rock work pad. Some material may be mobilized as the rock pad is removed but is not likely to cause any significant or long term adverse impact to fish and aquatic life. J.D. Wilhide with CEC was present. We discussed the portion of the existing structure that needed to remain to comply with the archeological requirements for the activity. Also discussed was leaving an area on the right descending bank behind the powerhouse weir that is stable and vegetated. This are would be difficult to access without damaging the portion of the structure that is to remain.
