Notes
Site was active at time of inspection
Facility is up for permit renewal and requested to remove DMP 21.02 and DMP 21.03. DMP 21.03 was never constructed. The treatment pond at DMP 21.02 is no longer being utilized by the facility. The treatment pond at DMP 21.02 had very little water visible on the day of inspection and was mostly vegetated. The berms around this treatment pond are elevated so that it does not receive drainage from the surrounding areas. The only water it can receive is rainfall. Did not see any issue with eliminating DMP 21.02 and DMP 21.03.
DMP 21.01 was discharging at time of inspection. The discharge water appeared clear. Water is pumped from the mine void to Pond 1. From Pond 1 the water flows to Pond 2 via a culvert. Water from Pond 2 leaves the site through DMP 21.01.
The BMPs along the haul road accessing the site in the northeast portion need attention. The facility was using round hay bales as temporary check dams until they can be replaced with rip rap. A sediment trap with a rip rap spillway has been installed. Discussed adding a SW point at this location but it is well within the permit boundary. Once SW from the haul road flows through the rip rap spillway at the sediment trap location it enters a drainageway and flows west before leaving the permit boundary. The drainageway is not easily accessible due to the steep topography. Facility is considering re-grading haulroad to carry the SW to the mine void.
