Notes
Drainage at the site was controlled through basins or BMPs. Facility has just started constructing berms in the western/northwestern portion of Mine Area B this week. Reminded facility as they continue to construct the berms to make sure they stabilize the outslopes of the berms by seeding and mulching. A berm has been built along the western/northwestern portion of Mine Area B where the facility is proposing to disturb a new 6.83 acre area within their currently permitted area. Drainage from this area will flow to this northwest portion of Mine Area B and the facility is proposing installing a sump and will pump stormwater from the northwest corner of Mine Area B to Sediment Pond 4 as needed. The water in Sediment Pond 4 where Outfall 002 is located appeared clear at the time of inspection. Outfall 002 was discharging. The discharge water appeared clear. Discussed sampling requirements with facility. Requested facility to email me a copy of the sample results. The emergency spillway for the newly constructed Sediment Pond 4 needed some additional rip rap. I requested facility to send me some pictures of the emergency spillway once they added some additional rip rap. I also, requested the facility to have sediment pond 4 certified by an engineer that it has been built to the design specifications outlined in their approved mining plans. I emailed an example treatment pond certification form to the facility on 5/17/21. Refer to the TDEC dataviewer for a supplemental photo log.
