The NPDES permit Notice of Coverage and Mining Plan were on file at the mine office. The mining permit sign was located next to the site office. All aggregate stockpiles were centrally located on the site. Drainage from haul roads, aggregate stockpiles, & the aggregate spec-mixing facility in the central area of the site was controlled through site basins. Water from the four sequential polishing basins at the northeast site corner is reused in site operations. The on-site asphalt plant was active & regularly used. Runoff from the asphalt plant, associated admixture tanks, & from the active mining pit was controlled through the on-site treatment basin system. All water not recycled for use in the plant is directed through diversions and pipes to the west side of the site where it passes through a series of basins, ultimately flowing to the final polishing basin at the site’s southeast corner. Water in the final polishing basin was clear and was discharging via DMP001 at the north end of the pond into the municipal storm drainage network. No sample was taken. Recycled concrete and recycled asphalt stockpiles were centrally located on the site and water from the stockpiles was managed through the on-site basin system. Perimeter berms and segregated topsoil berms were very well vegetated. Previously reclaimed/released areas of the site were very well vegetated. Overall, the site was in compliance with both its NPDES permit and its Other Minerals mining permit.
