Notes
Routine inspection to determine compliance with permit terms and site plans. Clearing taking place for pit expansion. All activity within permit boundary, and all runoff routed to existing treatment structures. Berms established along site perimeter. Operator believed that the site was not discharging and the valve at the outfall was shut off. However, inspection of the outfall showed the valve to be open, and a discharge was occurring. The inspection took place on the 16th, and it was evident that the site had been discharging during the first half of the month. All discharges from the first half of October 2023 were unsampled. To accurately report the DMR for this period, it should be reported that an unsampled discharge occurred. The site operator took a sample from the discharge as the inspectors were leaving the site. No other compliance issues were noted.
