Notes
Investigated complaint fromTony Russo of Vulcan Materials regarding potential pollution due to logging activity on landowner's (Mr. Box) adjacent land. Vulcan's eastern access road by the overburden storage had reportely been badly rutted and destabilized by the logging equipment. Additionally, logging road paths and channel crossings were a concern. Vulcan had the boundary road graded, and was placing gravel on the road.
Disturbance that looks like skidders, etc, extends in woods and pasture past boundary, and will need seeding and other BMPs. I observed two channel crossings of concern, but the uppermost one was WWC portion, so only one stream crossing. Letter to landowner and loggers to follow, cc Vulcan file. Forester Mike Sherrill also investigated site a few days before I arrived.
No Vulcan violations noted for this inspection.
