Notes
Site was active at time of inspection. Facility has requested to add 72 acres in a modification application. I did not observe any water features in the 72 acre area requested to be added. I did observe what appears to be a UNT to South Fork Eagle Creek west of proposed Pond 10 and Outfall 005 on an adjacent property. When constructing Pond 10 facility should make sure adequate BMPs are in place so sediment is not lost to UNT to South Fork Eagle Creek. Pond 8 where Outfall 003 is located has silted in. Discussed removing sediment from Pond 8 and installing some additional BMPs in the drainageway above Pond 8. There was no discharge observed at Outfall 003. The water level in the pond where Outfall 002 is located was low at time of inspection. There was no discharge observed at Outfall 002. Pond 1 was very turbid at time of inspection. There was a dusting of sediment observed on the rip rap of the spillway where Outfall 001 is located. It appears that during a recent significant rainfall event a turbid discharge through the rip rap spillway of Outfall 001 occurred based on the dusting of sediment in the rip rap spillway. There was a low flow discharge at Outfall 001 at time of inspection. The water in the receiving stream below Outfall 001 appeared mostly clear. You could see the bottom of the channel. Talked with permit section in Mining Unit and they are going to look at pond calculations and ask about treatment process as a part of the modification application.
